“Molly & The Magic Shoes” is an educational children's show in English where kids have great fun sharing Molly's adventures full of magic, dancing and fantasy.
The play features a single actress who totally captivates her audience; not only does she use her tap shoes for dancing, but also to create different sound and visual effects that immerse the children in the exciting story. The children are engaged from start to finish as Molly gets them to call out, dance and sing. The story ends with an important message for the children.
The show is for children between the ages of 3 and 8. When performing for schools we provide teacher's packs containing complementary material for the classroom tailored to the children's level. The packs are designed to ensure the children get the maximum benefit from the play.
Molly's greatest dream is to become a dancer but she's convinced that she is too clumsy. One day she comes across a mysterious suitcase which contains a wonderful surprise!
Molly and the children have to overcome a series of challenges to activate the magic powers of a pair of shoes found in the case.
She is astonished when the magic finally works and makes her dance for the first time in her life. She takes the children on an imaginary tour around the world where they experience dances from different countries which have been adapted to tap.
The journey between countries is also a great source of fun as Molly and the children swim, fly, ride a horse, travel by train…
By the end of the journey Molly is not feeling good about her principles which she feels have been compromised by only dancing with magic shoes. Luckily she discovers a secret that will change everything…
The play has two aims:
“If we think about multiple intelligences and educational competencies, the show is capable of stimulating many of the intelligences and competencies defined in the LOMCE* curriculum: verbal-linguistic (foreign language); bodily-kinaesthetic (movement and dance); social-cultural (interculturality); musical (variety of rhythms and melodies); interpersonal (cooperation and team work); intrapersonal (awareness and expression of emotions); enterprising activity (the character in the show demonstrates several dimensions of an enterprising spirit: motivation, effort, principles, overcoming fears…). At the same time the show reinforces certain curricular contents such as, means of transport, types of dance and different musical rhythms.”
